What to wear to yoga

If dressing for yoga may seem like an accessory, it's not! The outfit in which one carries out the various asana is important.

Regardless of his morphology, the perfect yogi's outfit will be quite similar for everyone: comfortable, breathable and adapted to his style.

There are many choices in store or on the internet, discover our tips to choose your yoga clothes.

What is a woman's yoga outfit made of?

A yoga outfit, no matter what form you choose (ashtanga, bikram, hot yoga...), will be composed of three essential elements:

• The top,
• The bottom,
• Underwear.

T-shirt or bra?

We may be tempted to simply put on our usual clothes: a short sleeved t-shirt or a long sleeved t-shirt. However, there are two major disadvantages to using our usual t-shirt:

• The practice of yoga, contrary to many preconceived ideas, makes you sweat! Thus, you may find yourself with halos under your arms ... No one really likes it!
• A lambda t-shirt will certainly not be close enough to the body. However, in yoga, we often find ourselves upside down. Your t-shirt will go up on your head, not very practical to breathe!

It is better to choose a top made for practicing yoga. But which one? There are two teams: team tank top and team bra.

There are many tank tops for sports, perfect for yoga. It should fit but not too tightly to allow you to breathe. You can choose a sport tank top with a swimmer's back to prevent the straps from falling off. As you wish! As long as it remains very comfortable and you can do any routine without being embarrassed.

Some will prefer the sports bra. There is no contraindication to practise yoga only in sports bra. The only criterion to be taken into account is the relation to our body: do you feel comfortable just wearing a sports bra?

If the answer is yes, don't hesitate! When it's very hot, you're still more comfortable! Sports bras are designed for good support and are often seamless for added comfort.

Legging, pantalon ample ou court ?

A second question arises: what do we put down?

One can be tempted to make the purchase of black leggings or jogging pants profitable. Again, this is a bad idea.

The short leggings that you put on to hang out at home or under a dress are without a doubt transparent? With the stretches you do in group yoga pilates classes, the fabric will also be stretched. And very often, the fabrics of cheap leggings are thin and you can see through them.

The sweatpants (or sarouel, if you're more of a fan), on the other hand, don't allow the yoga teacher to control the movements you make. Even you won't know if what you're doing is right! You may also be bothered by the folds in the fabric when you have to bend or bend your legs.

The other problem you may encounter with ordinary leggings or jogging pants is the lack of an elasticized waistband. So you risk revealing some parts of your anatomy if the pants slip off your hips?

A sports pants or leggings should be part of your sportswear for yoga! They are generally high waist and well adjusted, without compressing your abs. Straight pants for sports will also have more elasticity. The ideal companion to put in your gym bag for future stretching sessions.

When it is hot and only if you are comfortable with your legs, you can use sport shorts. Indeed, in yoga, we often find ourselves in postures with our legs spread apart. If it suits you, in this case, opt for shorts very close to the body.

The question of underwear

In question of stockings, each one its preference: some will swear only by the shorty while others will opt for the elastane panties. The important thing is the comfort, which will make you forget your underwear.

As far as the bra is concerned, choose one without underwire, which does not compress your chest, while ensuring a good support.

A sports bra can be considered, especially for larger breasts.

Comfort first and foremost to perform yoga postures well

We can't say it enough, whatever sportswear you choose, the most important thing is comfort! To warm up, strengthen your muscles and simply relax, it's best to be comfortable in your outfit (even more so when doing prenatal yoga).

When doing yoga, it is impossible not to sweat. Therefore, it is better to choose a fabric that is anti-perspiration and breathable to evacuate excessive perspiration.

We've already talked about it but the opacity of your yoga pants, pants or pants is important when you make your greetings to the sun or the moon, to be as comfortable as possible and not to say to yourself: "Gee, we need to see my panties...".

The softness of women's clothing is not to be left aside. More a clothing is soft, more one feels well inside, that it is a woman pants, a boxer shorts or Bermuda shorts.

In yoga, the body and especially the spine are mobilized on all axes through the different postures. The belly must not be compressed, the legs must be free of any hindrance, the chest must be supported so as not to be hurt. Everything must be done with ease.

Yoga and well-being are synonymous. In fact, a yogi's lifestyle is often modified to better adapt to the environment. The clothes and accessories you choose may be in line with the values of yoga and meditation. Many brands have a line of eco-responsible clothing made of organic cotton or other natural materials.

Did you know that organic cotton uses 60% less water than traditional cotton?

Assert your style through your yogi clothes!

Even if you don't come to yoga class to do a catwalk show, if you can combine comfort and style, it's better!

Being casual doesn't mean giving up fashion for sport. Graphic, colorful, straight cut... Printed leggings are available in many different ways.

Being beautiful in your yoga clothes is also a good way to motivate yourself to do sports, isn't it? You can also adjust the color of your outfit to your mood of the day or on the contrary, put a pep's color to motivate you and make you feel happier!

For example, bright colors like red, orange or yellow put you in a good mood and push you to be more dynamic. For softer women's fitness practices, you can opt for pastel colors or mottled gray.

A few more tips to be on top during your yoga session!

When you are a woman, there are other elements that can make your yoga session easier.

• Handkerchiefs,
• A small terry towel,
