WHAT IS AERIAL YOGA?

Originally this derivative of yoga comes from the United States, and more precisely from New York. It is in the years 2000 that it made its appearance. It is Christopher Harrison, who after having worked for a long time in the world of the spectacle and the circus is interested in it. He then discovered the numerous benefits of muscular activity practiced in the air. He then developed the concept of AntiGravity® Fitness. The entire body is trained in the air with the help of a suspended hammock.

First of all, what you need to know is that this type of yoga is simply practiced in the air. The idea is quite simple: to do yoga but in weightlessness. This sport activity is therefore very playful and original. All parts of the body can be worked.

You do classic yoga but in altitude suspended from a hammock hanging from the ceiling. The postures are done with softness. Not only your body works but also your mind. This discipline is also very artistic.

Be aware that the hammock used must be solid and well attached. The fabric used is resistant and very flexible for a maximum comfort. You will have to learn to let go and let yourself be carried by the hammock with confidence.

HOW DOES A SESSION WORK?

You may well need a yoga mat during your session. The aerial yoga class begins with warm-ups on the floor. As with most sports activities, it is important to start with this preparation. This allows your body to prepare itself optimally for the effort. A session usually lasts 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes.

FIRST STAGE
During this first stage we perform various classical yoga postures on the floor. This allows us to better understand them later on in the hammock. This is also the moment when time is given to relaxation and meditation. The idea is to take the time to prepare your body and your state of mind, which will allow you to better tame this new sensation of weightlessness.

SECOND STEP
Then you gently settle into the hammock. Of course, during the first session, you will take the time to familiarize yourself with this new accessory. Once you are comfortable, you will start with simple positions. You will be led into an inversion. At this point you will be able to gently stretch your entire spine. With the hammock, all parts of your body can be stretched. You will be able to do a series of acrobatic postures. Without any effort and especially without damaging your joints.

AND WE FINISH :
The session ends with a time of relaxation. It is practiced either on the floor or in the hammock. On the floor, you will do some stretching exercises and a little meditation. When you finish the session in the hammock, you lie down completely. You find yourself as if in a cocoon in levitation and you make the inner emptiness. This last moment allows you to release all tensions. You are at your maximum of letting go. Once your session is over, you come out completely relaxed.
