Create Your Meditation Space

Creating a meditation space is a wonderful idea.

Indeed, technology and distractions are increasingly intruding into our daily lives. It is more than ever necessary to have a place reserved for calm, relaxation and activities such as Yoga and Meditation.

Don't worry, you don't need to have a whole room for this, the corner of a room will do just fine!

In this article, you will first discover the reasons for creating your own meditation space, and then 5 easy steps to create your own ideal meditation space. You will also find 7 great examples to draw inspiration from!

Why create your sacred space in your home?

Before moving on to practice, why create a sacred space for meditation?

This space will facilitate your spiritual practice: no more wondering where you can find calm and serenity, it will be much easier to meditate or practice your spiritual activity when you feel the need.

• Your sacred space will multiply the benefits of your activities tenfold: this calm and peaceful environment will allow you to deepen the trance of your meditations, you will feel relaxed just by stepping through its doorstep, this environment filled with good vibrations will allow you to quickly access deep states of consciousness modified

• A space for evolution: more than meditation and yoga, this sacred space will be an ideal place to stimulate your creativity, to read, to relax, or to let yourself go?

• A refuge: it will also be the perfect place to feel comfortable and safe. It will allow you to refocus and anchor yourself in the moments when you feel sad or angry.

• Your connection to the Whole: by associating objects and stones together, you will be able to create a sacred space that perfectly matches your vibration. This place will allow you to be in direct connection with the Universe. It will be the ideal place to define your intentions and manifest your desires in your reality.

5 steps to create your ideal sacred space

1. Choose the right place
If you want to make the most of your meditation space, try to get a space that is yours. If it's not a complete room, it can be a place in the room that will be reserved for you. The space should be quiet. It should be as quiet as possible. Take a place big enough for you to lie down and to be able to do some movements like yoga postures, even if no activity is mandatory.

2. Do a big clean up!
This second step may not seem very spiritual to you, but it's quite the opposite! A dusty, poorly ventilated and untidy place is a place where energy does not flow. Open one or two windows, put away everything that doesn't need to be there, and vacuum. Make this place clean and fresh, you'll clearly feel the difference.

3. Bring comfort
Make this place so comfortable that you won't be able to do without it! You have to LOVE to spend time in it to make it seem sacred to you, so the best way is to put a few cushions and a rug in it. Even a pled or something to keep you warm will be welcome. You should be able to lie down comfortably, put yourself in a meditation position, or do yoga if that's your thing 🙂

4. Bring good vibrations
To begin, you must purify this place to increase its vibratory rate. You can use several methods:
Sprinkle raw salt along the windowsill. Use crystals (I will come back to this in the next point), the most effective for purification are onyx, obsidian, black tourmaline or kyanite.

Purification by incense is also very effective, you can use very powerful Palo Santo wood or white sage. Best of all, the best way to have a purified place is to create a feeling of security. The best crystals for this are rose quartz, rhodochrosite, amber, agate and coral. Essential oils are also effective, such as chamomile, sacred basil, acacia...

A diffuser of essential oils or incense can perfectly have their place in your sacred space to create the olfactory atmosphere you dream of at a given time. Relaxing and inspiring music according to your personal tastes will also create their little effect.

Singing bowls are also wonderful tools that by their vibration have the ability to balance the energy of a place. If you own one, always keep it handy. In addition to being a beautiful decorative object, you can make it sing for a few moments to enjoy its resonance or to recharge stones or essential oils. Don't neglect the impact that a painting or a mural can have, even in a simple and uncluttered place.

Do not hesitate to arrange the spiritual symbols and motifs of your choice, for example the chakras. Geometric forms such as mandalas or sacred geometric forms such as the flower of life, the metatron cube or the sri yantra are very useful to amplify the energy of your space.

Salt lamps are perfect to diffuse a soft and warm light ideal for your relaxation area. In addition to this, they create negative ions beneficial to health and they restructure the energy of the place. Plants are also excellent to create negative ions and bring a fresh and lively side to your sacred space. Do not hesitate to position natural elements such as branches or flowers.

5. Stones & Crystals
I had to devote a paragraph to them alone. Stones are the most powerful tool I have ever discovered.

The energy of stones and crystals is so pure that all the energy of the piece resonates with it. If you walk into a room with stones in it, you will notice the difference in vibratory level.

Crystals also affect your own vibration and are very effective tools to help you feel good or to deepen your meditation for example. There are certain stones that you cannot do without in your sacred space: Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Rock Quartz, Labradorite...

Let your intuition guide you to position them in the room. Pay attention to how you feel, that's how you'll find the right place for everything.

We will see in another article how to use crystal grids. Know that one thing you can do to restructure the energy of a room is to position 4 Rock Quartz in each corner of the room. Orient them all towards the center of the room and let them all communicate with each other.

Maintain your sacred space

Only your feelings will tell you when you need to purify your sacred space again. You can never do too much, but I think that once a month it is good to think about it. If you welcome people into this place or if there is something going on there that makes you feel bad, purify your space to raise its vibration again. It is also important to respect this sacred space. Before entering, remember that this space is meant to reconnect you to yourself.

Every full moon day, I like to take my stones out on the terrace at night so that they can recharge in the moonlight. This is often the time I choose to reorganize my space as I wish and to purify it with a little sage.
